Microbond testing of the interface in glass fibre vinylester composites

چکیده

The microbond test was used to investigate the interface strength (IFSS) in various glass fibre-vinylester (VE) composite systems and a number of issues related sample preparation were identified. Cure schedules that produce well-reacted VE polymers on macroscale did not result cured microdroplets. Hence, could be carried out samples with same cure history as composites. Testable microdroplet only obtained when resin under an inert atmosphere. Higher IFSS values by raising final temperature schedule. Glass fibres full sizing gave significantly higher apparent comparedf bare or fibre coated silane coupling agent. It discovered measured compatible approximately doubled mounted using epoxy glue instead cyanoacrylate glue. This phenomenon appears deposition vapours onto surface during preparation. is concluded great care must taken ensuring effects observed are evidence real material characteristics artefacts

Behaviour of E-glass fibre reinforced vinylester resin composites under impact fatigue

An impact fatigue study has been made for the first time on 63⋅5% glass fibre reinforced vinylester resin notched composites. The study was conducted in a pendulum type repeated impact apparatus especially designed and fabricated for determining single and repeated impact strengths. A well-defined impact fatigue (S–N) behaviour, having a progressive endurance below the threshold single cycle im...

Oligomer Coupling Agents in Phosphate Based Glass Fibre / PLA Composites

Oligomer Coupling Agents in Phosphate Based Glass Fibre/PLA Composites P Haque, AJ Parsons, I Ahmed, DJ Irvine, GS Walker, CD Rudd (Univ of Nottingham) Polylactic acid oligomers as coupling agents have showed potentially higher interfacial shear strength in phosphate based glass fibre/ PLA composites. To influence bonding on the glass fibre surface, the short chain PLA with different end groups...

Shear Strength Characteristics in Aged Polyester-glass Fibre Composites

Researches on the effects produced by the sun light upon polymeric matrix composites have been increased on the last ten years. It is commonly to find literature about mechanical characteristics degradation due to different environment effects. But a few ones are related to the shear behaviour. Moreover a limited studies are related to glass fibre polyester, even that are the composites most co...

Characterization of Glass Fibre – Coconut Coir– Human Hair Hybrid Composites

A composite material is a combination of two or more materials arranged in the form of layer one on the other layer using binding material through some prescribed methods. In the Glass fibre coconut fibre human hair hybrid composite method, the epoxy resin is used as binding material, in which one layer is formed of glass fibre, followed by coconut fibre and then by human hair. By using hand la...

Oligomer Coupling Agents for Phosphate Based Glass Fibre/pla Composites

Bioabsorbable phosphate glass fibre/polymer composites are being investigated as alternatives to commonly used metal alloy-based bone fracture fixation devices. According to Knowles [1], these ‘Third Generation’ implants remain in the body for the short term necessary for mechanical stabilisation of tissue. In addition the degradation products of the bioabsorbable implants perform an active fun...
